Saturn enters Pisces on March 7, 2023, and will reside there until 2026 (see complete dates at bottom of post). Wherever Saturn lies, it is where we are called to do the work of going to the next level–whatever that is for each of us in our current state of growth. It’s time to mature, get out of our comfort zone, and focus our efforts. With Saturn in Pisces, we are invited to put our efforts toward our spiritual lives through the Piscean practice of surrender.

This summer and fall, we are in the last throes of the Saturn-Uranus square. This collective transit was at its height for much of 2021, but it’s back for a final wrap-up here in the second half of 2022. Squares are about tension. We are seeing both the positive and negative expressions of this tension out there in the world. In the collective, the lowest common denominator often wins out. But as individuals, we each have the power to choose toward being part of the solution instead of the problem.

The benefit of a major Saturn transit is that it gets us real with the passing of time. We must confront the fact that we are limited by our human life spans, by the hours in the day, and by the obligations and commitments we have made. That can all sound very depressing. But looking at it another way, these limitations serve us. They help us to remember what is important. When we have a realistic relationship to time, we are able to prioritize the things that we want to accomplish before the day is through, both literally and figuratively.

The planets dance with each other, cycles forming between them. These are called synodic cycles: the relationship between one planet and another as they move from a joined position (conjunction), then around to that same position again. The process varies in length of time, depending upon the planets involved.

We are currently in a Saturnian time. As I write this, Saturn is slowing down to make a retrograde station (exact on April 29th). In the days leading up to and away from a planet's station (either retrograde or direct), we feel the archetype of that planet more strongly. Let’s add that as it makes its station,
