Saturn in Aries

Saturn, the planet of structure and responsibility, enters the bold and fiery sign of Aries on May 24th, 2025, where it will stay until September 1st. It then dips back into Pisces before returning to Aries from February 13th, 2026, to April 12th, 2028. This transit marks a time for embracing new commitments and taking courageous action toward our goals.

Saturn takes approximately 29 years to complete its journey through the zodiac, spending about 2 1/2 years in each sign. The last time Saturn was in Aries was from April 1996 to February 1999 (with a brief period in Taurus). If you're old enough to remember that time, reflecting on it can offer valuable insights into recurring themes in your life.

For me, that period was marked by a major relocation, moving from California to Oregon at the age of 28. This transition involved closing the chapter of my student life and stepping into a new career as a college instructor. I was challenged to confront self-doubt, overcome my fears, and claim authority in this new role. Looking back, that time clearly bears the imprint of Saturn in Aries.

Take a moment to consider your own experiences during that late 90s period. What significant new beginnings did you embark on? What fears did you overcome, or what self-doubt did you transcend to step into a new chapter? Reflecting on these past experiences can provide valuable clues about how you might best navigate this upcoming transit.

Aries, the warrior archetype, encourages us to "feel the fear and do it anyway," providing the courage to take that first step, even if the journey ahead is long. Saturn in Aries supports us in committing to endeavors that require discipline and perseverance. This transit amplifies our drive to initiate projects and pursue our ambitions with focused intention.

Saturn in Aries also carries a shadow side: the potential for stubborn determination in the wrong direction. We might become overly focused on getting our way, forgetting the valuable lesson of surrender learned during Saturn's time in Pisces. It's crucial to recognize when our ego is driving the bus, leading us down a path of unnecessary resistance or harsh self-criticism. Be sure to balance this by continuing to practice the wisdom gleaned from Saturn in Pisces, namely to hold compassion for others, and for ourselves.

Wrapping Up Saturn in Pisces

As Saturn's journey through Pisces comes to a close in 2025-26, it's a potent time for reflection and integration. This transit, which began in March 2023, has been a period of deep spiritual work, encouraging us to surrender to the flow of life, confront our limitations, and cultivate greater empathy. Whether we have risen to the occasion or not, the fruits are showing up in our lives now.

We've also been challenged to discern our dreams from reality, taking practical steps towards manifesting those that are truly aligned with our soul's purpose while releasing those that no longer serve us.

Now, as Saturn prepares to shift into Aries, we're invited to gather the wisdom gleaned from this introspective journey. This includes acknowledging the endings and we've navigated and the deeper connection we've forged with our spiritual selves. It's a time to celebrate the resilience we've cultivated and the lessons we've learned about surrender, acceptance, and the power of aligning our actions with our dreams. As we move forward, we carry with us the gifts of Saturn in Pisces – a heightened sense of compassion, a stronger spiritual foundation, and a deeper understanding of our place within the vast cosmic tapestry.
